very belated January MVs

NewJeans - OMG
What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? Not everything in this MV works for me and I understand the skepticism over the setting, but there's just so MUCH in there to think about and puzzle over. It's a big messy meta statement of a piece... AND the song is catchy!

H1-Key - Rose Blossom
MY ATHLETIC GIRLS!!!! The vibe is a bit end of the world, a bit teenage rebels without a cause, I love it. And this is going on a reverse run at the charts now? GOOD FOR THEM!

Monsta X - Beautiful Liar
Felt like classic MX, WITH a PONY.

SF9 - Puzzle
This felt like a throwback for SF9 too! I really like them so much.

xooos - Naked
This was a cool indie pop song. it really reminds me of something, but I can't remember what lol. Apparently she was on Mixnine but she's way better known as a youtuber - she has almost 1.5m subscribers and her covers get millions of views! Anyway. Cool song.

Cignature - Aurora
Super pretty comeback from Cignature after OVER A YEAR. I am so relieved they're out of the basement, and I genuinely think this was one of the better mini albums released in January. Palace is pop perfection.

XG - Shooting Star
I know everyone likes their rappers but tbh I could drop the opening verse... BUT the rest of the song is catnip to me.

TXT - Sugar Rush Ride
Sexy Lost Boys getting high on magic flowers or something. Good for them!

Viviz - Pull Up
Viviz standing at the intersection of commerce and art! Or something! It's a lot of fun. They look great and I like that they are exploring a different concept.

Huh Yunjin - I ≠ DOLL
So unsurprised that this comes from the Swiftie of the group! I liked the art, the song is catchy, the sentiment is earned.

BXB - Fly Away
Cannot help but cheer for the re-debut of 4 members of TRCNG! The throwback sound is nice.

Twice - Moonlight Sunrise
They are just so damn beautiful.

- On OMG: I agree on all points! The moment at the end with the flashback...it's so twisty (in a good way) that all of it makes me go OOOOOOH. Considering that they only have SIX songs total (so far.)

- On H1-Key: I'd somehow missed checking their music out. So far they're getting the A-OK/no skip on Spotify. Though I'm less sure they'll ever reach fave status, I am enjoying listening to them. :D

- On XG: I'm soooo hot and cold with this group! Was so-so on Tippy Toes, LOVED Mascara, and am not sure Shooting Star will ever be my cuppa. That said, I do appreciate that the members are giving their all.

- On Yunjin: Oh, Ihni that she was Swiftie (tho, at the same time, I'm aware of TSwift but couldn't even name you a song of hers.) IN ANY CASE, I'm 200% loving the songs she has released so far. You can really tell how involved she's with her solo music (I'm guessing it's more intense than with Le Sserafim--though she's deffo present in their music. But I detour...). It's making me more curious both abt her future solo efforts as well as whatever the group will drop next.

I don't follow SF9, but I happened to watch "Puzzle" and got totally hooked on the song so I've been listening to that one a lot! Also, "Pull Up" is my favorite comeback so far from Viviz (a lot of their earlier title tracks were a little too light and fluffy for me, but this one hits, and I love a "be gay do crimes" theme). I follow TXT and Monsta X, so I watched Beautiful Liar and Sugar Rush Ride when they both first came out and enjoyed them lots. I was surprised by Yunjin's I /= Doll because I am only just getting to know Le Sserafim and I think it's really cool she made such a strong statement about how she feels about fame and how she wants to be positioned in the industry so early on, but good for her!
