Im Nayeon - POP!
What an indisputable star. She's great when she's with Twice and she's great in her first solo.

IVE - Love Dive
Song of the year! Everyone has talked about this song ad infinitum! "Narcissistic, my god I love it" line of the year!

Billlie - Ring Ma Bell
My other favourite rookie girls - I've been pulling for them since they debuted with Ring x Ring. This is the year Tsuki went viral for that Gingamingayo fancam and they deserved all the shine they got. Ring Ma Bell took them more rock and it was so fun.

Choi Yena ft. Bibi - Smiley
The ABSOLUTE CUTEST! Every outfit absolutely on point! I don't think she really got to fully shine in IZ*One, so seeing her take the centre and own it in her solo debut was so good.

Viviz - Bop Bop!
Gfriend are gone but not forgotten, and long live Viviz. Total earworm. I watched SO many stages of this.

NewJeans - Hype Boy
Maybe the debut of the year. Loved the retro vibes, loved the vibrant visuals, loved how the four MVs pushed the concept and each told such an interesting story.

Red Velvet - Birthday
RV concept queens. It was really hard choosing between this and Feel My Rhythm - FMR has higher highs but also lower lows, whereas Birthday is so quirky and complete as a concept. (If you uninvite RV from a party, they will HUNT YOU DOWN and then cast an evil spell on you.)

Kwon Eunbi - Esper
Possibly my favourite MV of the year? I watched this so many times. I wish the colour grading was brighter, it looks so washed out, but the STORY, the OUTFITS, the way the hunter tips Eunbi's chin upwards with a gun... It's noir, it's assassins, it's Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood all at once. Is Kwon Eunbi the detective or the femme fatale, or both? Why does the red cloaked woman in the woods reveal herself to have the same face? Why does - I could go on and on! I might crack and write fic about this one eventually.

Saay - Talk 2 Me Nice
Another noir themed MV, and again Saay is both the detective and the femme fatale. Very slinky and cool.

DeVita - Bonnie and Clyde
Her voice... her VOICE... this plays with staging and image and audience in such interesting ways.

Suzy - Satellite
Featuring Monika, the dancer from Street Woman Fighter, she's compelling with this indie shoegazey song.

We're in total agreement w/r/t to IVE, Billlie, Choi Yena ft. Bibi, NewJeans, SAAY, and Red Velvet. (I have no opinions on the rest. Oh, except DeVita--I paid ATTENTION while listening to that song.)

NGL, though, I'd have probably flipped Wildside and Birthday's places. Cuz Wildside was THE RV song for me last year. Meanwhile, it took me a while to warm up to FMR (especially with the first MV. Like, I got the awesomeness of the visuals, etc, but I also found all the art callbacks distracting AF. Their performance MV was much more to my taste, IDK.)

Oh, and H1-Key is a group I've just started to check out (it popped up in one of the Spotify daily playlists I'm following). Looking forward to more from them too. :DDD

That IS true! Birthday's MV highlights how quirky and murder-y Red Velvet's aesthetics can be, heheeh.
